Causes of Excessive Sweating

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

There can be many different causes of excessive sweating.  Some people experience excessive sweating when they get even the slightest bit warm.  For them, any temperature that’s even a few degrees over their normal body temperature can trigger excessive sweating.  These people generally try to wear loose clothing and stay indoors as much as possible, especially during the summer months.  Many find that moving to areas with colder temperatures helps a lot with their problem.

Other people find that being nervous or anxious exacerbates the problem.  For them, excessive sweating is not so much a physical reaction to the heat as it is a psychological reaction to a situation.  Whenever they start to feel nervous or anxious, even if they are sitting in a very cold room, they start to sweat excessively.  This sweating can occur on the hands, under the arms, or around the face and neck.

Finally, some people suffer from hyperhidrosis.  This is a somewhat rare problem that only affects around two to three percent of the population.  There’s often no telling who might suffer from the problem but doctors believe it can be affected by metabolic or neurological diseases, but often hyperhidrosis affects people who have absolutely no other health issues.  Unlike sweating, this is caused by the weather or situations, can occur at any time.

Dealing with Nervous Sweating

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

Many people out there wonder if there’s some form of magical cure for sweating when nervous.  The answer, sadly, is that there’s not a cure-all that will make all of our nervous sweating vanish.  However, there are several things you can do to combat the sweating.

The first is a mind over matter approach.  If you hyper focus on how you just know you’re going to sweat right through your shirt, chances are you will.  Work on focusing on something else, not on how much you’re sweating.  Also try to figure out the cause of your nervous sweating.  Why are you nervous?  If you can identify this, you may be able to calm yourself and sweat less.

Obviously, avoid tight clothing.  If possible, wear short sleeved shirts that are a bit loose.  This will help ventilate your body, keeping you cool.  Using antiperspirants should go without saying, but pay attention to which antiperspirant you use.  Some are designed for those with excessive sweating.

If you find that you continue to sweat excessively or that you start sweating excessively when you’re not nervous, you may have what is called hyperhidrosis.  In this case, you may need to seek treatment.  One option is botox injections under your arms, although these injections will have to be repeated regularly to control the sweating.  Another new treatment involves lasers to actually remove the sweat glands, although this treatment doesn’t work for those who experience excessive sweating on their faces or hands.

Things To Do If You’re Sweating Excessively

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Do you sweat if you’re nervous or if it’s really hot? Well, that should be normal. But if you sweat excessively even under acceptable circumstances, then you’ve got problems that need to be addressed immediately. However, avoiding excessive sweating is easier said than done. Oftentimes, even if you’ve done all the listed prevention techniques instructed by the experts, you still end up with a sweaty palm, armpit, or forehead.

So what would you do when perspiration is dripping off you uncontrollably? Here are good tips:

1. Always be ready with a handkerchief.

If you suffer from excessive sweating, never leave your home without several handkerchiefs stowed in your bag. If you can bring a small towel, that’s more preferable. Keep the hand towel always at your disposal. As for the handkerchief, always keep it in your pocket. Bring three to four hankies with you to work everyday and change to a fresh one whenever the other is wet. Wipe sweat immediately once you feel it coming out.

2. Get some fresh air.

You’ll know if beads of sweat are forming in your forehead. Once you feel it, try to go out of the room or building. Go to a spot where there’s lots of air and ventilation. Don’t go back inside unless you’re sure that your body has refreshed itself.

3. Take a quick shower.

If you’re at home and you’re sweating too much, take a lukewarm shower. This will relax your body and get rid of all your sweat too. If you’re outside or in the office, try to freshen up by sprinkling lukewarm water on your face.

4. Always bring an extra shirt.

underarm sweating must be the most embarrassing thing of all. If this is your problem, try to change your shirt in the washroom even before the marks set in. As much as possible, bring a shirt that is in the same color as the original one you’re wearing, so as not to put too much attention to your costume change.

5. Dust with a thick baby powder.

Powder helps absorb body sweat. Put a generous amount of it on the problem areas after freshening up. By doing so, you’ll be able to stay cool and dry for a longer period of time. Men might find this solution unmanly. But it is effective so it’s definitely worth a try.

6. Stop worrying.

Being anxious and nervous would only make things worse. So do yourself a favor and stop panicking. Take several deep breaths. Rub your forehead. Make all those bad ideas go away and your sweat won’t compound as much.

7. Be prepared.

Excessive sweating may come at the most inconvenient time. As such, you have to be prepared. Surely, you know what triggers you sweat. So make sure that you prevent them at all costs. If you can’t, you might as well bring with you everything that you need to ease all those sweat away.

Don’t live with excessive sweating if you can deal with it. Talk to a doctor about the solutions you can possibly undergo to address the problem.

I know the exact reason why; my sweating. Think about it. If you’re looking at someone to promote and you see this guy that is sweating all the time, what would you think? From my research, I learned that I could be stimulating my body to go at a much faster pace with my diet. I would eat things that would cause my heart to beat faster and I would just get hot. Easy Tips to Treat your Sweating Problem

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

If you suffer from excessive sweating, check out these great tips in this article..

Easy Tips to Treat your Sweating Problem

Not too many people have a sweating problem, but those people who do have this type of problem can find their lives revolving around it. Normally although a sweating problem would be thought of as excessive sweating, the reverse of this can also be true in that some people might also suffer from a lack of sweating.

And although people who sweat excessively might wonder how such a sweating problem as a lack of sweating, could be a problem, it is nonetheless so. Both of these conditions are known health conditions, with the sweating problem of excessive sweating being known as hyperhidrosis, and the lack of sweating being known as anihidrosis.

If you suffer from either of these conditions your best recourse is to first consult with a physician as soon as possible to seek help for your condition. This is especially true if your sweating problem is only a very recent occurrence. Excessive sweating or lack of sweating, can both be a herald of an underlying medical condition, and all precautions should be taken to rule out any and all possibilities.

Of course a sweating problem doesn’t always have to be linked with an underlying medical condition. It could be due to any number of other reasons which are perfectly harmless such as being a genetic trait in your family. Not everyone sweats in the same manner or in the same way, and the trait of sweating excessively, moderately or not at all, can, and has been, passed down the family tree, many times.

You might also find that a sweating problem such as excessive sweating can occur with the onset of puberty when hormonal changes are taking place, or at a time – and it doesn’t have to be during puberty – when a person’s hormones are changing or settling down.

For instance in the case of acne, sometimes a person can coast through puberty without one blemish on their faces and when they hit adulthood, they would find themselves breaking out regularly. And although this is only an example of how certain changes in a person’s body can come about, it can hold true for a sweating problem as well.

In this case, along with, or even before, consulting with your physician to seek relief from your problem, you might want to try a few things such as changing your diet to iron out any problems. Sometimes a simple change in lifestyle or diet can help you to deal with your sweating problem. You might even find that you get other health benefits from such a simple change as well!
