Have you ever found out that your car has a major damage just by listening to a barely detectable sound? Just like we listen to a car to be sure it is running in perfect condition, we have to pay attention to the little things that our bodies do so that we can maintain good health. Little changes in the way our body responds to food, physical activity and other stimuli might not seem much, but these things might actually be symptoms of more serious conditions.
For example, you may be a person with a sweet tooth, and this has never bothered you at all. One day, after snacking on your usual favourite dessert - a scone, a chocolate bar, a crepe or whatever it is you love to eat - you notice your body temperature getting high. Even if all you get is a moderate fever, you should take this unusual reaction as a signal that something may not be right. Go to your doctor and see if this is indicative of a serious illness.
Similarly, excessive sweating might not simply be an isolated condition. For some people, it might be a telltale sign that something is seriously wrong. While some problems with profuse perspiration are merely genetic or environmentally-dependent, some can have roots in problems like a hyperactive thyroid gland or an abnormal reaction to certain types of medicine.
Having an annual physical examination can help you stay aware of your body's needs. However, the battle for health is really won in the day-to-day activities. With every spoonful of healthy food and every minute of physical exercise, you are giving your body the attention and care that it needs.
